Experimental investigation of pressure drop of protective screen in wind tunnel

Abstract
In order to prevent the fall of model in a vertical wind tunnel protective screen is used in the input area of the flight chamber. As regards the air flow velocity in the flight chamber is very high, the pressure drop in the protective screen will be high. In order to select the appropriate protective screen and its associated wires,
 protective screen models was constructed and the experimental investigation was carried out by using wind tunnel. Due to the wire woven is more resistant against fatigue, for higher safety factor wire woven is used. Pressure loss coefficient of protective screen depends strongly to the mesh net porosity. When the wire diameter of protective screen is less than 0.6 mm, the results of present work are consistent with the results of other researchers. Pressure loss coefficient of protective screen with woven wire and protective screen with wire rod are close together.
